Lorna Evans Simister

May 28, 1930 — January 20, 2018

Lorna Evelyn Jones Evans Simister passed from this life on January 20, 2018 from causes incident to age.  She had been living at The Legacy House in Bountiful for the past nine months.
Lorna was born in Salt Lake City on May 28, 1930, to Lawrence Ahaz and Alice Taylor Jones, the fifth of seven children. She grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and graduated from West High School in 1948. She married Jonathan (Jack) Davis Evans December 14, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had two children, Kae and Greg, and were married 37 years until Jack's passing in 1987. In 1990 Lorna married Phil Simister, a long-time acquaintance from high school. We will be forever grateful for the love and caring he has provided our mom for the past 27 years.
Lorna was an accountant by trade and worked at Mountain Fuel Company for 28 years, retiring in 1990.
Lorna loved to read and loved corny jokes. She would often call just to tell us the latest joke she had heard. She was perpetually cheerful, generous, and caring. A very classy lady. She loved her family with all her heart and was always happy to support us in any way she could, whether it be at band concerts and dance recitals or buying us dinner at the Sizzler. She is already greatly missed.
Lorna is survived by her husband, Phil Simister, daughter Kae and Dave Covington, son Greg and Terrie Evans, step-daughter Diane and Garn Morrell, sister Dorothy Smith and brothers John and Don Jones, 8 grandchildren and 23 ½ great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alice Jones and Pearl Hill, brother Larry Jones, husband Jack Evans and granddaughter Whitney Covington.  We are so happy for the glorious reunion she is now having with those she loved so much, especially her beloved sister Alice.
We are grateful to the wonderful caregivers at Legacy House who gave our mom such loving attention during her last months of life. We also thank South Davis Hospice, and especially Melissa, for helping us navigate through these difficult times and for caring so much about our mom. It gives us great hope to know that there are such loving people in the world.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday, January 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. In lieu of flowers, please take your family to dinner and tell them a corny joke.
