Lorna Jones Broderick

December 20, 1923 — November 23, 2011

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister went home to her heavenly parents on November 23, 2011 at the age of 87. Lorna died from complications of pneumonia. Lorna was born in Castle Dale, Utah December 23, 1923 to Wallace Raymond and Lilly Olivia Lake Jones. She married Ronald J Broderick on September 27, 1942. They later were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on March 21, 1946, after Dad returned home from World War II. They have shared their lives together for 69 years. Mom loved Dad and her children very much. She made many personal sacrifices on their behalf. Many times they went on camping, fishing, hunting and vacation trips. Mom and Dad were active members of the LDS Church. They served a church mission together for 4 years, traveling all over the continental US, doing microfilming for the Church History Department. Mom spent a lot of years doing family history work for both her and Dads side of the family. She put countless hours into this sacred and unselfish work. Mom had many talents. She loved to crochet, quilt, needlepoint and garden. Lorna is survived by her faithful husband, Ron; children: LeRoy (Sharilyn) Broderick, JeNan Page, Danny (Vicki) Broderick, Kevin (Laurie) Broderick, KaeLeen (John) Garrick, Patricia (Brad) Coburn; siblings: Dick (Annalee) Jones, Jack Jones, Paula Jewkes, Eugene (Barbara) Jones; sister-in-law, Maurine Johnson; 28 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to express our thanks for the loving care she received at Bountiful Avalon Care Center, Vista Care Hospice and from her son, LeRoy and granddaughter, Kristy Sandgren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, November 28, 2011 at the West Bountiful 6th Ward Chapel, 1750 North 900 West. There will be a viewing Sunday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Monday 11:30 a.m. -12:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
