Lorraine Ludwig Cook

August 20, 1953 — November 4, 2015

Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, age 62, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Lorraine’s optimistic, upbeat attitude was contagious and constant throughout her life, but especially evident during her illness. She never complained, and accepted her trials with grace, dignity, and enduring faith. She was born August 20, 1953 at Fort Ord, Military Base, San Francisco, California, the first child to William N. Ludwig and Joyce Castleton. Lorraine was preceded in death by both parents, her youngest sister, Kathy, and maternal and paternal grandparents. Lorraine married Randy C. Cook, November 17, 1978 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. This month would have marked their 37th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with four children: Ryan (Rachelle) Cook, Matt Cook, Katie (Chase) Oborn, and Allie (Bryan) Shumway. Affectionately known as “Lur” among family and friends,

Lorraine was very involved with her children and loved spoiling her eight grandchildren: McKenzie, Brooklyn, Tyce, Tatum, Crew, Emery, Maeve, and Nora. Lorraine had a strong testimony of the gospel, and was an active member of the LDS Church her entire life. A highlight during her young-adult years was volunteering as a cast member in the Hill Cumorah Pageant. She served in many different church organizations and callings, of which primary chorister and primary teacher were favorites. Some of her hobbies included crafting, decorating for holidays, scrapbooking, sewing, girl trips and shopping. Lorraine worked at Barnes Bank in Kaysville, Utah for more than a decade, and recently at Fruit Heights City offices. She is survived by her two sisters, Sharon Hunter, Annette Bertch, brother Mike (Julie) Ludwig, mother-in-law Esther (Henry) Cook Adovnik and many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for the loving service she received from doctors, nurses, and especially the Brookhaven Ward Relief Society. Viewing services will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015, 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1941 N. Main Street, Farmington, Utah 84025. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 11a.m. at the Brookhaven Ward, 190 N. Country Lane, Fruit Heights, Utah 84037, with a one-hour viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service.  Interment – Kaysville City Cemetery.
