Louann Teachout Gardner was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, on December 1, 1950, passed from this life on July 22 at the North Canyon care center, in Bountiful, Utah. Louann was the third child of Robert Irving Teachout and Lorraine Louise (Blair) Teachout. She lived in Battle Creek for 18 years, before she moved to Athens, Michigan. Louann met her husband, Robert Stafford Gardner at an LDS Special Interests Group Activity in 1983, and was married to Robert, on November 5, the same year, in the Washington DC Temple, of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Louann worked as Aid in an adult care facility in her early life and brought much light and laughter and friendship to people who were captive to an often dreary situation. Later in life Louann provided similar assistance to friends and neighbors in similar circumstances in their own homes. Beyond those activities Louann loved to travel to visit with family and friends and spend time with those dear to her. She and Robert have extensive family and friends in Michigan, Illinois, Arizona, Utah, Florida, Texas, and California. Her other passion was children. There are more children’s toys and books in her home for neighborhood children, than there were things of her own. She always remembered the names of all children who spent any time with her. She was as popular with them as they were with her.
Louann and her husband Robert lived in the Livonia, Michigan area for ten years, then in Athens and Battle Creek, Michigan, and finally re-located to Bountiful, Utah, where she lived through the remainder of her life.
Louann was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and her marriage in the Temple was one of the highlights of her life. Especially in the last year of her life while fighting pain and cancer, her faith gave her an unwavering belief in the blessings of life and the blessings of eternity. Louann served as a Primary Teacher, Relief Society Teacher, Visiting Teacher, Library Specialist, Sunday School Teacher, and faithful friend.
Louann is survived by her husband Robert, her parents Robert and Lorraine Teachout, and her brothers Rod Robert, Dale LeRoy, and David Joseph Teachout. She was preceded in death by her sister Kaylene Lorraine Teachout.
Funeral Services will be held for Louann at 11 am, on Monday, July 28, 2014, at the LDS Chapel at 200 N 200 West, Bountiful, Utah, 84010 (Bountiful 58th Ward).
