Lucie Drawe (Omi) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Lucie was born in Alten Buseck, Germany to Heinrich Schoen & Minna Siegfried.
Lucie married Heinrich Borschel and had two children, Heinz Walter Borschel and Renate Borschel Allen.
Lucie was born into a Protestant-Lutheran home and at the age of twelve years old she longed for more religious knowledge and continued studying and searching until she was 29 years old and missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints knocked on her door. She was baptized into the church on September 5, 1959, after which she established the first branch of the church in Giessen, Germany and served in many callings throughout her life. Lucie’s testimony of the gospel was her most treasured purpose in this life.
In 1964 Lucie wanted to live where the church was most prominent. After her divorce from Heinrich Borschel, Lucie and her two children immigrated to the United States of America after being sponsored by the gracious, loving Jensen family and they lived in Huntsville, Utah for a couple of years. Our family considers her to be our pioneer in the gospel.
She met Harold Drawe at a church dance. He asked her how many children she had, and she told him 10! He didn’t ask surprised. The first time he came to her home he met the two children she had, and she won him over with her lentil soup. They were married and sealed on August 26, 1966. Lucie and Harold lived many happy years together serving the Lord and being a very active part of their family’s lives. They served a mission in Switzerland. Prior to their mission Lucie worked for years as a realtor in Davis County, Utah, but what Lucie was most known for was her homemade bread loaded with butter, cheese and salt, her sour cream salad, and her delicious cooking. Even her great-great grandchildren loved to visit and be fed by Omi. Lucie was loved by everyone, especially her posterity.
Lucie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Siegfried, first husband Heinrich, husband Harold, her granddaughter Natalie Allen and many friends and family in Germany.
Lucie is survived by her son Walter (Marion) Borschel, his children Monica (Josh) Borschel, Brandon Borschel, and Lisa (Lloyd) Bayer. Her daughter Renate (Chet) Allen, her children Michelle (Tye) Rogers, Angie (Randy) Brown, and Emily (David) Jensen. Sixteen great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren all under the age of five!
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the caretakers, friends and loved ones that provided love and support to our Omi.
