Lucille Emily Mickelson

May 10, 1932 — August 10, 2019

August 10, 2019, our dear mother, Lucille Emily Mickelson, passed peacefully away at Davis Hospital. Lucille was born May 10, 1932 in Dubois, Idaho to John and Sarah Estelle Lougee. She was the fifth of eight children born in the household. Lucille’s parents were very loving, hard-working people who struggled to get through rough times during the depression; nevertheless, the family laughed often, loved deeply and were a very close-knit group. These factors all helped develop Lucille into the wonderful woman she became.

She married her sweetheart, Donald L. Mickelson, November 18, 1950. She then began her life as a wife and later a mother to three children, Anne Marie, Robert Scott, and Carol Jean. Lucille worked hard at making a home, sewing clothes, and teaching children. One of the things she loved to do was gather her children each night and read to them. This increased their love for reading and scholarship.

Outside the home she taught Primary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for about eight years. Later she served in the Primary presidency with her neighbor, Betty Steele.

Lucille is the grandmother to two, Chris (Brianna) and Stephen (Kellye) Cousins; great-grandmother to four, Chyah, Joseph, Kenny and Daniel Cousins.

She was loved and appreciated for her sweet and kind personality by all who knew her. She had and abiding love for Jesus Christ, which she exemplified by loving and accepting all.

She is survived by her two daughters, Anne and Carol; two grandsons, Chris (Brianna) and Stephen (Kellye); four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Debra Lavon West and Joanne Cunningham; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service will be held Saturday August 17, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Syracuse Center Ward, 2228 South 1660 West, Syracuse, UT 84075. A Viewing will be held prior to funeral service from 9:30-10:30 AM. Internment will be held at the Farmington City Cemetery.
