Lucille Keene

April 14, 1929 — January 15, 2015

Our dear, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Lucille Thomas Blaisdell Keene, died peacefully on January 15, 2015, surrounded by family who loved and adored her. Our hearts are broken as we say goodbye to such a remarkable woman, but rejoice in the many priceless memories we hold so dear. We loved our Lulu!

Lucille was born in Malad, Idaho, on April 14, 1929, the 10th child of Mary Pierce and David P. Thomas. She loved growing up in this small Welsh community and was so proud of her Welsh heritage. She graduated from high school in 1947, and soon after married her childhood sweetheart, Orlan E. Blaisdell. They shared 23 happy years together before he passed away at the age of 43. They were the parents of four children, Brad (died in infancy), Pamela, Wendi and Brent.

Lucille was employed in Salt Lake City, for Dr. Louis C. Larsen, Ken Garff Co., and Utah Power & Light. She made life long friends along the way. Lucille was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She loved her years serving with the youth in the Young Women’s program and as a Primary and Relief Society teacher. She loved all of her friends in the Orchard 2nd ward.

In 1972, Lucille married Robert (Bob) Keene. They shared many fun times, which included boating, skiing and traveling. She especially enjoyed yearly trips to Hawaii and to Laguna Beach with the entire family. Lucille and Bob have been members of Oakridge Country Club for over 30 years and have enjoyed many hours of golf and fun with family and great friends.

Lucille had a sense of humor like no other! In times of trials and frustration, she always found a way to laugh or find humor – she has passed that onto her family. She loved to dance especially to the family theme song, “Proud Mary”! She lived her life joyfully with love, enthusiasm and grace. She was beautiful inside and out. She was our angel.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert R. Keene; her children; Pamela (Val) Ossmen, Wendi Egbert, Brent (Stephanie) Blaisdell and Kelly (Daniel) Foster. Ten grandchildren: Emilee, Angela, Ryan, Allison, Brooke, Connor, Danielle, Ashley, Braeden and Lindsay. Four great grandsons also survive her: Mitchell, Cruz, Mason and Cash.

Proceeded in death by husband Orlan Blaisdell, son Brad Blaisdell, mother, father and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at the LDS Orchard 2nd ward chapel located at 3707 South 800 West, Bountiful, Utah.

Family and friends may attend a viewing and visitation in her honor on Wednesday, January 21, 2015, from 6-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary located at 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, and prior to the funeral at the LDS Orchard 2nd Ward from 11am-12:30pm.

Interment will be at 1:00pm on Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Malad City, Idaho Cemetery.
