LuDean Garlick Ellis Rogers

LuDean Garlick Ellis Rogers, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on March 19, 2016 surrounded by her loving daughters.  She was born January 19, 1937 in Ogden, Utah, to loving parents, Chester and Lila Garlick.  She was one of the “little dames”, the youngest child of six.   She loved her family life and growing up in Farr West, Utah with her brothers and sisters.  She worked hard on the family farm.  She met Donald “J” Ellis as a teenager and waited for him while he served in the Korean War.  They were married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1955.  They lived in Salt Lake City during their early years of marriage and later moved to Bountiful, Utah where they raised their three daughter and two sons.  After Don’s death, she married Jerry Rogers.  LuDean had many talents and loved to serve.   She loved to cook, bake, sew, and decorate.  She continued that service by scattering sunshine at Legacy House of Bountiful and loved the residents and staff.   Her passion was music.  She had a beautiful alto voice which she shared with others by performing with the Utah Oratorio Society for 25 years.  She and her close friends would take their quartet around the neighborhood every Christmas.  She was proud of her children and grandchildren and their talents and achievements.   She had a great love for our Savior.  She is preceded in death by her husband Donald “J” Ellis, and her daughter Kim Madsen.  LuDean is survived by four of her children: Kevin (Donna) Ellis, Kristen (Brady) Giles, Kamra (Robert) Haskett, and Kaleb Ellis.  She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Bountiful 43rd Ward, 990 North 100 West, Bountiful, Utah.  A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, Utah and Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
