LuDean Madsen Sheffield a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of July 25, 2024. She was 93 years old.
Born on March 2, 1931 to Francis Doyle Madsen and Anenia Floy Allred in Spring City, Utah.
LuDean grew up in Spring City, Utah and graduated from North Sanpete High School. She moved from Spring City to SLC after high school graduation. She lived in the Beehive House which was a home for young adult single women at the time and worked for Mod-O-Day where she managed a production team.
LuDean married the love of her life, George Hacking Sheffield on August 13, 1954, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised their 3 children in their family home in Kaysville where she lived until her passing. She had a love for family, friends and neighbors and would often share a meal when needed to support one in need.
LuDean was a devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years she served in a variety of callings. Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society Counselor and Secretary. LuDean and George accepted a calling to work in the ward library together and loved to be able to be with each other in this calling.
LuDean was a wonderful mother and had so much love for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker and was always cooking something delightful for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. She loved to be with George, her children, and her grandchildren.
LuDean was a member of the Orchid Club where she made many lasting friendships. They would have a monthly get together at members’ homes or a restaurant.
LuDean loved to attend all the sporting events her grandchildren played as they grew up playing Soccer, Football and Basketball.
LuDean loved to travel with her family to Bear Lake, Canada, California, Idaho, South Dakota and surrounding states. She loved to fish with George and her kids wherever George wanted to take her. They loved to travel to fishing spots with their good friends Jay and Afton Adams.
LuDean is survived by her 3 children, Kim (Alan), Steven (Mike), Jeffery and 8 grandchildren Mark, Julie, and Bradley (Morgan) Merrill, Cody (Emily), Caleb (Michaela), Missy, Marcus and Zach Maughan; and 9 great-grandchildren. LuDean is survived by her sister Carol DeMill, and brothers Dennis (Atina) Madsen, and Kenneth (Tamara) Madsen, brother-in-law Blair Sheffield (Julie), and sister-in-laws Lola and Kay Sheffield,
Preceded in death by her loving husband George, parents Francis Doyle and Anenia Floy Madsen, her stepmother Helen Vancott Madsen, son-in-law Gary Merrill, brothers-in-law Mark DeMill, Grant Sheffield, Dean Sheffield, Larry Sheffield (Nyla), and great grandchild James Reed Maughan.
LuDean we will miss you dearly, but know that we can always remember and carry the strong love you have for each of us in our hearts and minds.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 2nd, 2024 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Russon Mortuary, 1941 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah. A Graveside funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. on Friday August 2nd, 2024 at the Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E Crestwood Road, Kaysville, Utah.
