Luke William Morris, 15, passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 2017. He was born November 5, 2001 in Salt Lake City to Jeff and Shannon Morris. He was a student at Riverview Junior High in Murray where he was heavily involved in the stage crew, which he loved, and where he made many of his best friends. Luke also enjoyed learning German and would often throw some German phrases around the house to practice what he was learning in school. Practicing and performing with the school percussion band was another favorite part of Luke’s school experience.
Luke is survived by his parents, Jeff and Shannon Morris, sisters Makenzie and Miranda, and little brother Ledger, and his awesome dog, Dash, all of Murray. He also leaves behind his grandmother, Kathleen Morris, several aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom adored Luke.
Luke was the life of the family since the day he was born with his kind nature, uncensored humor, and quick wit. You never knew what he might say but he was always funny and a joy to be around. He loved creating, whether it was building elaborate Lego sets, piece by piece, metal inventions that he welded himself, sketching video game characters, or playing music.
He recently began playing the bass guitar and was looking forward to his first performance through the School of Rock with an AC/DC cover band. Bowling with his dad became another recent favorite activity that allowed Luke to spend time with his dad competing for the best scores. Luke enjoyed comics and the superhero realm and was fortunate enough to attend ComiCon a number of times where he thrilled to meet some of his favorite actors from Doctor Who: Matt Smith, Alex Kingston, and Karen Gillen, to name a few.
Luke loved his family and enjoyed spending time at home just hanging out talking about music, friends, concerts, or showing off new bass music he had learned. He was adored by his siblings just as he adored them, showing it through teasing and tormenting in any way he found possible. He also had a group of fabulous friends who added such adventure and fun to his life, for which he was truly grateful. There have been many teachers, leaders, coaches, and neighbors who made a difference in his life and whom he also had an impact on, more that he realized. A great void has been left by his departure from this life which is felt by all who knew him.
Luke is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Garry and Deanna Ancell, his paternal grandfather, William Morris, and his sweet puppy Violet.
Luke’s passing has left an unmistakable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him, but his influence will linger and we all look forward to being reunited with him, our amazing boy, in the future. Until then, Luke, we love you and miss you and are grateful for the time we had with you.
