Luverne Martin Athmann, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at his home in Woods Cross, Utah. Born August 26, 1927 in Greenwald, Minnesota the son of Chrys & Anne Athmann.
Luverne served in the US Navy during WWII. Married Jean Boswell, January 16, 1954 in Washington, DC. Retired in 1983 from U.S. Dept of Agriculture Ariel Photography Field Office.
He was a member of St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Bountiful. Past President and lifetime member of Asheville NC Lions Club. Past secretary of North Salt Lake Lions Club.
He enjoyed woodworking and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; their children: Debbie (Royce) Piercy, Karen Cox, Jeff (Cheryl) Athmann, and Vickie (Don) Riche; 8 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Meyer and brother-in-law, Stephen Boswell (Annette). He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Winifred and Marilyn; great-grandson, Parker; and son-in-law, Steve Cox.
The family would like to thank Hospice for Utah for their loving care of Luverne.
Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church, 1800 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful.
Interment-Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Luverne’s name would be appreciated.
