Lyn was born February 4, 1947 in Lewiston, Utah to Opal Louise Devore, and Wayne S. Wheeler. He grew up traveling around with his dad who did construction.
He loved sports, and excelled in track and field, and football. He attended Ricks College and BYU. He held the school record in the long jump for over 20 years.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Eastern Central States mission, and spoke fondly of his time in Kentucky.
He was sealed to his Eternal Companion Susan Kay Sellers in the Salt Lake Temple on October 9,1970. During their 53 years of marriage they had 9 amazing kids, traveled all over the world, went to all but the 3 most recently dedicated temples in the United States, and when he passed they had all the appointments set to go to those 3 temples.
His love for his wife was unmatched. He was more concerned about how she was doing than what was going on with him. He had been preparing her for when he wouldn’t be with her anymore and would often tell her 50 times a day how much he loved her.
He loved nature and taught us all to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. He loved spending time with his family, and loved cracking jokes, he was incredibly funny. He loved traveling and taking pictures, and loved telling us all about the places he visited and showing us all the pictures.
He and Sue made a goal to make it to as many activities for their children and grandchildren as they could. They went to many choir, band, orchestra, sports and other activities and were currently taking each of the grandchildren out to lunch for their birthdays. He loved spending time with, and talking about his family. He was so proud of all of us, and would brag to anyone that would listen.
He loved BYU even when they stunk up the joint. He never missed a game. He would record them and watch them when he could.
He loved fly fishing and spent hours tying his own flies. Many a weekend was spent with him in his waders fishing.
He was an electrician by trade, and during his later years traveled to different states to work, which we loved because he would scope out all the cool stuff to see, so when we went to visit he could show us everything he found.
