Lynn Hazen Jensen passed away July 24, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 82 of causes incident to age. He was born November 20, 1930 in Salt Lake City to George K. and Leone Hazen Jensen. Lynn was raised on a farm on Redwood Road where he developed his appreciation and love for animals. He was a graduate of West High School. He married Carol Drechsel on August 20, 1954. He worked many years in the hayfields putting up hay, both for his family and for many others throughout the Salt Lake Valley. As a young man, Lynn served in the National Guard. He was an accomplished welder, builder and heavy duty machine operator. He worked as a welder for the Lang Company and Salt Lake City Corporation before becoming a welding instructor for the Salt Lake Skill Center. He was then self-employed for the rest of his working life as a dragline and other heavy duty equipment operator. Lynn served as the Lower Jordan River Water Commissioner for the State of Utah for several years. He is survived by his wife of 58 years; son Lane H. Jensen (Gayle); daughter Patti Jensen; a very special grandson Luke A. Jensen; and sister Faye Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Keith and Don Jensen, and sister Judy Jensen. A special thanks to Cindy Jensen for her love, support and friendship for our family through the years and for the special care she provided to Lynn during his recent time of need. The family acknowledges the care and kindness provided to Lynn by CNS hospice, Avalon Care Center and family friend Melissa Adams.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West. Viewings will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Monday morning 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main.
