Lynn LaRoy Hooper

December 21, 1953 — December 12, 2021

Lynn was born in Ogden, Utah to LaRoy and RaNae Hooper. He grew up in Bountiful, Utah, in a loving home, with his two younger brothers. He attended Viewmont High School whereas a senior he was proud to have won the class of 1971 state football championship.

At a young age, he learned he had a knack for construction like his dad. It didn’t take long for Lynn to start his own construction company. In addition, countless hours were spent in the Uintah mountains with his mom, dad and brothers crafting the family dream that would eventually become Hoop’s Haven.  The family property became the second home for hunting, fishing and snowmobiling trips, not to mention the family competition brought out by a good old fashioned board game.

Lynn was a proud father of five children whom he helped to develop a love of family and devotion to each other. He treasured the opportunity to coach his kids in all their sports activities and develop a true passion for sports, especially football and baseball. This eventually turned into Lynn becoming one of those pesky, die-hard Raiders fans. For those that knew him, “Raiders baby” was his Sunday mantra. If Lynn wasn’t watching a Raiders game, you would find him on the sidelines or in the stands screaming and cheering on his grandkids in their sports events or dance and cheer activities.

Lynn served his community as a police officer, starting his career in 1982 with Vernal City, then transferring to West Bountiful and finally retiring from Bountiful City Police Department with nearly 25 years of service. He was not finished there. He went on to become an investigator for the state of Utah with the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL). At the time of his passing, he was still serving as lead investigator for DOPL. Next year would have marked 40 years in the law enforcement career field. He cherished the relationships he built with his fellow officers and co-workers and was so proud to serve alongside each of them.

Lynn taught his children the importance of service to others and could not have been prouder of his three sons for joining the military and serving their country and of his oldest grandson who chose to follow in his footsteps by joining our heroes in blue as a police officer.

Lynn was one-of-a-kind and he will be missed by so many. You are gone but will never be forgotten!
