Lynn Ray Preece

May 14, 1938 — August 30, 2021

With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the loss of our father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Lynn Ray Preece, who passed away peacefully at his home of 55 years in North Salt Lake, Utah, on August 30th, 2021.

Lynn was born to Raymond and Selma Preece on May 14, 1938, in Lewiston, Utah, though, he would eventually venture out to all 50 states, 10 different countries, log over six million miles as a commercial truck driver, and, most importantly, raise 7 children with the love of his life, Carrol Wheeler, whom he was married to for 56 years (May 28, 1955–December 6, 2011), and sealed to for eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on December 13, 1980. Family meant everything to our Dad—Whether it was camping trips in the car when we were young, weekends spent boating, cross country road trips with his kids and grandkids, or buying his 24 grandchildren, and 40 great grandchildren treats at the movie every Thanksgiving, Lynn truly relished every moment he spent with his family. Dad’s work ethic was legendary, and he passed this ethic down to all 7 of his children. Dad took great pride in his work, and even greater pride in his children and grandchildren’s work and success.

Lynn is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carrol Preece, whom he has missed dearly the last 10 years, and was excitedly looking forward to seeing again. We are truly grateful for that most joyous reunion. Lynn is survived by his 7 children—Sharon Ball, Raymond (Jan) Preece, Terry (Kris) Preece, Mark (Yvonne) Preece, Ellen (Lon) Willis, Brad (Claudia) Preece, and Brent (Wendy) Preece, as well as his sisters, Inez Campbell, and Vonda Preece, and his brothers, Boyd Preece, Val Preece, and his sister-in-law, Elma Atkin, and his 24 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 2 future great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at Russon Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah on Friday, September 3rd, from 9-10:30am, followed by a graveside service at Lakeview Memorial Estates at 11am.
