Mae DuBose Sherwood

Mae Polly Sherwood passed away August 18, 2010 from natural causes incident to age. She was born in Lisbon, Georgia in 1921 to Ben and Nannie Lou DuBose. She had two sisters, Elizabeth and Esther, and one brother, Edward. She was a proud US Navy nurse during WWII where she met her future husband, Russell P. Sherwood, a US Marine who had been shot in the heart during the battle of Pelilu. After a miraculous recovery they were married and settled in El Centrol, California where they raised three children. They later retired to Virgin, Utah and moved to North Salt Lake in 2003. Polly was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah and husband Russell. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Swensen Paul; son, Russell Sherwood Rhea; two grandchildren, Melissa Martin John and Elizabeth Swensen; and sister Esther Sanders Jack. Besides being a great wife and mother, Polly was talented sculptor and lover of all animals. It was her wish not to have a service so we will send our prayers and release her to God and her husband.
