Makia Dawn Jones

Makia was welcomed into this world on October 10, 1995 to Cory Valgene and Cheryl Dawn Jones  in St. George, Utah. She is the big sister to Carter and Morgan, Codie, and Melissa Jones.

By April 17, 2012 Makia and Nicholas Borden-Cortez were blessed with the most amazing and beautiful daughter she could ever have, Tallica Dawn Jones, who is now 11 years old. On September 24, 2017 a little later down the road along came the most happiest, rambunctious, bundle of excitement, Cobain Koby Jones, who is now 6 years old.

This family trio shed so much light and love in this world. She loved her kids through thick and thin, pain and pleasure, through darkness and light. Makia gave her whole heart and soul to her kids, this world, and everyone in it. 

She was the best for having a conversation, being a good listener. Rambunctious spur of the moment type of person, she would see the best in people and make all the sad moments happy. Her infectious goofy laugh would brighten up any situation, good or bad her laugh made any situation better. She had a profound love of art and music. Makia was extremely spiritual and had high faith in things but never doubted our Savior's love because of her best friend MJ. Her best friend Crissa was always by her side, with her, and offered her love, time, company and support. 

As a close knit family, the Jones’ spent many hours together playing video games, bored games, spending time in outside activities, and going to the park or pond. During the summer season, we went off to the swimming pool center or built a pool outback. In yearly tradition, we drive through Ogden Canyon Rd, across the Pineview Dam, and make it to Weber County North Fork Park to camp there. It never failed with snow on our clothes, every winter, we would hit the slopes sledding. Afterwards, we would head home to enjoy grandma's hot chocolate, with family and friends who she loved dearly. 

On March 27th, 2024, Makia Dawn Jones left this earthly life way too soon and now she is in a better place now with people that she loves and love her. Throughout the years, nearly every family member has created unforgettable and memorable moments with Makia. Her kindness to every human being will be forever cherished. She will always be missed and loved.

She is survived by her children Tallica and Cobain; her parents Cory and Cheryl Jones; her siblings Carter, Morgan, Codie, Melissa; her grandparents Sandy Brown, Lael Brown; nephew Phoenix Carter Jones; niece Daniilyn Dawn Jones; multiple uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends. 

She is proceed in death by her uncles Codie Rydalch, Chris (Moge) Peterson; cousin Tiffany Nielson; grandparents Chris and Connie Peterson.
