Maleta Hoxsie Robinson, 96, died June 15, 2009 at Heber Valley Medical Center in Heber City, Utah.
Maleta was born December 28, 1912 in Springville, Utah at the home of her Grandmother Anderson to George Gordon Hoxsie and Laura Anderson Hoxsie. She was the 2nd of five children.
She attended the public schools in Salt Lake City, graduating from West High School in 1929. She continued her education at the University of Utah and graduated in 1933 receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and a Secondary Teaching Certificate.
On May 20, 1937, she married Wilford Henry Robinson. During their married life, they lived in Ventura and Long Beach, California, Logan and Laketown, Utah, and finally Salt Lake City, Utah after they had both retired.
Maleta returned to college after her four children were born to obtain an elementary school teaching certificate. She taught school for 22 years in Laketown, Utah and also served as the principal of the elementary school for most of those years.
Maleta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She held many church callings throughout her lifetime and was an avid genealogist. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Mayflower Society. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends both throughout the United States and to several foreign countries.
Maleta was a people person, she loved associating with others. She exemplified the Christ-like attributes of unselfishness, kindness, and gentleness. She believed in the principle of not judging others and loved each person for who they were. She had a lifelong love of learning and encouraged all to better themselves through education. She never complained as she met the challenges that were part of her life. Through self discipline she sought to perfect herself often putting the needs of others before hers.
She is survived by her youngest sister, Donna Hoxsie Leverich, her four children and their spouses – Judy and John Jensen Centerville, Utah, George and Marion Robinson Rock Hill, South Carolina, Douglas and Susan Robinson Heber City, Utah, David and Debra Robinson Salt Lake City, Utah, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilford Henry Robinson, her sisters Blanche Hoxsie and Faye Hoxsie Ashton, and her brother Gordon Hoxsie.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 10:00 a.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, Salt Lake City 801-328-8846. A viewing will be held at 9:00 am prior to the service. A second short service will be held at the Laketown Chapel in Laketown, Utah at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Laketown Cemetery immediately following the service.
