Malvern Hansen

Together Again.

Malvern Hansen passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, at Legacy House in Bountiful at the age of 101 years. Malvern was born in a log cabin in Molen, Utah on June 29, 1923, to Francis and Julia Hansen. He was the third of twelve children and the oldest son. He quit school when he was 15 years old to help on a farm and to help support his family. 

Malvern married Bernice Jensen on March 17, 1946. They had 6 children. He, along with his father Francis, his friend Alfred Grundvig and others, built the family home they lived in until 2022. 

He enjoyed hiking in the high Uintas, and camping, hunting and fishing in his younger years. He also had a garden and vineyard. He took up snow skiing at the tender age of 65. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his riding club. He was a rock hound and made jewelry that descendants and friends have today. He also made canes and walking sticks from tree branches he found. 

In his youth he was a farmer. He later worked as a traveling shoe salesman, a shoe repairman, a manager of several clothing and shoe stores. He also worked for the Utah Auto Auction from age 65 until he retired at the age of 85. 

He had a good sense of humor and made friends with everyone that he met. 

Malvern is survived by six brothers and sisters, and his children Beverly, Mark (Suzanne), Barbara, Clark, and Grace (Dorian) Olsen, 24 Grandchildren, 52 Great-Grandchildren, and 20 Great-Great- Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice in 1994, his daughter Janice Day, his parents and 5 siblings. 

There will be a viewing at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main Street, Bountiful, Utah, on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will also be held there on Monday, October 7th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., with a viewing prior from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m., followed by a dedication of his grave at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah. 

Services will be streamed live on the Russon Mortuary Live Facebook page and on this obituary page. The live stream will begin about 10-15 minutes prior to the service and will be posted below.
