Margaret Barlow Crystal, 96, passed away peacefully at her residence in Fairfax, Virginia on Saturday, December 10, 2016. She was born December 6, 1920 to Simon and Louise DeLamater Barlow in Ogden, Utah.
She attended Ogden City schools and Utah State University where she met Mark H. Crystal. They were married July 26, 1943 at her parent’s home. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Margaret enjoyed poetry, drama and all kinds of literature, and took part in many school, college, and Church productions. She also loved to travel the world.
She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the Primary organization, the Mutual Improvement Association (MIA), and in the Relief Society organization. She taught school in Weber County and Davis County and later worked for the Utah State Tax Commission. She was a long time member of the Farmington Junior Literary Club, the international sorority Beta Sigma Phi, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and both of her sisters. She is survived by her son, Laurence (wife Patricia), and a daughter, Janet (widow of David), 6 grandchildren and 16 great grand children.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2016, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. She will be interred beside her husband in the Bountiful City Cemetery on Monday the 19th at 10:00 a.m..
