Margaret McGill Duncan

October 15, 1919 — July 13, 2017

Our beloved , mother,  grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and  friend  passed away peacefully  at her home on July 13, 2017.  Margaret was born in Magna, Utah on October 15, 1919 and was the third child of six born to James McGill and Julie Salome Nielsen.  She grew up in Magna, Utah and graduated from Cyprus High School in 1937.  She married her sweetheart , Charles Eldon Duncan,  on March 14, 1945, and later solemnized their marriage in the LDS Bountiful Temple on January 31, 1995.  They are the proud parents of three children:  Eldon Curtis (Janet), Peggy Ann Padilla, and Kevin Dee Duncan.  They have 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughter, Dana Lynn Dykhuizen.
Margaret had a distinguished career of 33 years working for Z.CM.I.    She was head of Payroll for 25 of those years.  In addition to a successful career, Margaret loved being a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was actively involved for 44 years, holding every office and serving on many committees.  She worked on the Special Olympics Committee, a  labor of love since she had a granddaughter who was very active in the Special Olympics.  She also helped with Family Counselling.  She received the Beta Sigma Phi "Woman of the Year" award in 1989-1990.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was happiest spending time with her family.  Her kind, gentle, caring personality endeared her to all.   She selflessly and devotedly cared for her dear husband  for the last 10 years of his life.  She held many church positions and served faithfully.  She took great pleasure in quilting , reading , traveling, walking, and was one of the finest cooks around.  She was always ready to serve whenever needed.  Her kind and gentle presence will be greatly missed.
The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the Tender Care Hospice and the many caregivers that gave their time and loving care.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Parrish Canyon Ward Chapel, 610 North Rowland Way, Centerville.  Friends may call Monday evening, July 17, 2017, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary , 295 North Main Street, Bountiful and Tuesday morning from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m.  at the Parrish Canyon Ward Chapel prior to the service.  Interment will take place at the Centerville City Cemetery.
