Margarethe Haurand

March 20, 1927 — July 25, 2011

Margarethe Elisabeth Biehl Haurand, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully July 25, 2011 in Bountiful at the age of 84. Margaret was born in Essen, Germany, on March 20, 1927 to Friedrich Johannes and Marie Noelker Biehl. She is now waltzing again in the arms of her eternal companion, Henry A Haurand. Margaret was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a full-time mission, 1948-50, as secretary to the Frankfurt Mission President. She also served in various organizations in the Church throughout her life including as a supervisor and trainer in the regional name extraction program for over 20 years. She married Henry A Haurand, Dec. 22, 1951 and immigrated in July 1952 to Seattle, WA. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. Margaret was called with her husband on a building mission from 1962-65, to West Berlin. From 1984-87, she accompanied her husband as he supervised the building of the Stockholm, Sweden, Freiburg and Frankfurt, Germany temples. From 1995-98, she served as the matron of the Frankfurt Germany temple, while her husband was temple president. She is survived by her children: daughter Connie (David) Spencer, Orem; daughter Susan (Carl) Cook, Orem; son Henry (Laura) Haurand, North Salt Lake, and daughter Heidi (Garry) Scoville, American Fork; 19 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren with 5 on the way; Brother John Biehl in Texas. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 31, 6 – 8 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful. Services will be held Monday, Aug 1 at 11 am at the Bountiful 14th Ward, 1500 S. 600 E. preceded by a viewing from 9:45 – 10:45 am. The family would like to thank the medical professionals who served her so kindly.
