Margot Katharina Dowler passed away of natural causes on June 17, 2022 in Bountiful, Utah.
Margot was born on January 23, 1935 in Heidelberg, Germany. Margot was the first of two children to Wilhelm Rudolf Bonants and Elise Geborenen Hettinger.
Margot attended high school and trade school in Eppelheim, Germany. While Margot was in trade school, she worked for a tobacco company rolling cigar leaves into cigars. Later, while still in Germany, she worked for BBC Radio.
Margot married Charles Herbert Dowler on September 11,1959 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children. Margot was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and attended the Bountiful 36th Ward. She served as a primary teacher and as a visiting teacher for many years.
After Margot came to America, and her three children were raised, she attended beauty school to become a beautician. Margot later worked at Mariann’s Delicatessen until she retired.
Margot was an accomplished knitter who enjoyed teaching others how to knit. Margot enjoyed playing board games and was an avid reader. She often shared her life stories of growing up during WWll in Germany. Margot loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Margot is survived by her sons John (Jan) Dowler and Patrick (Brenda) Dowler, daughter Brenda Pons, brother Ottomar Bonants, sister-in-laws Marilyn (Lavar) Thalman and Joanne (David) Weaver, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margot was preceded in death by her husband Bert, parents Rudolf and Elise, son-in-law Mark Brown, and great-grandson Finley Dowler.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Following the viewing, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
