María del Socorro Orbegozo Varona

Our Beloved Mother and “Abuelita” passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the age of 86 in Bountiful Utah.
She was born on August 16, 1925 in Piura, Perú to Justo Orbegoso and Maria Luisa Varona.
She had a great musical talent and performed from the time she was very young and throughout her life. Her family moved to Lima, Perú in 1950 where she and her daughter were later baptized members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1963. She moved to the United States in 1975 to be with her daughter and family. She was overjoyed to become a US Citizen in 1983. It was one of the greatest blessings of her life.
Maria had a strong testimony of the Gospel and a deep abiding love of her Savior which she shared with everyone she met.
Above all, Maria treasured her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She cherished and served them all the days of her life.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Luisa Welsch and her grandchildren, Daniel Budke(Kim), Erika Luisa McEuen(Aaron), David Gary Budke, Glen Stephen Budke, Seth Alexander Budke(Melanie), Sara Marie Stevens(Bradley), Aubrie Ann Nutter(Derek) and by 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her maternal sisters, Irma Herring (Curtis-deceased), Magda Gomez (Enrique), and paternal siblings Ena Orbegoso, Doris Orbegoso, Antonieta Orbegoso and Hector (Tito) Orbegoso
She is preceded in death by her father, Justo Orbegoso and her mother Maria Luisa Varona of Lima Peru.
A Viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Mortuary, located at 295 North Main in Bountiful, Utah on Tuesday March 6th from 6-8pm. with a short viewing Wednesday March 7th from 10:30am to 11:30. Graveside service and interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West at 12pm.
