“Hooray! I lived to be an old lady and life has been a good trip. I died today at 89.”
Marian was born to Reuben Orson Casper and Orpha Vida Watkins, in Midway, Utah.
She had five sisters and one brother. She loved them and their spouses. They were taught to work and to share, all the good principles needed to live on this earth.
She married her sweetheart, Bill on March 12, 1947 in the Salt Lake City Temple. They were married for 68 years and walked hand in hand through the thick and thin of life. They were blessed with three children.
She worked at JCPenney for 19 years. Marian answered the call to serve in many church callings and was a Salt Lake City Temple worker for 7 1/2 years. She felt everyone should have that blessing.
She was pleasant and happy throughout her life. During her later years her eyesight and memory were dim, but her beautiful smile and positive attitude still warmed many hearts.
Marian always loved being a woman, a wife, a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother. These roles brought her great joy. She always knew and loved her Heavenly Father.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Roger, three sisters, a brother, a grandchild and a great-grandchild. She is survived by sisters, Fern Rasband (Verl), Gloria Toomey (Mike), brother-in-law Tom Carlile, son David (Julie), daughter Elaine McKay (Reed); daughter-in-law Sue; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She said “As I grew old, I always wanted to be somebody’s valuable treasure, a much loved old antique. I believe I was. PS I’d like to do it all again.”
