Marian “Sally” Rose Peck

Our dearly beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marian “Sally” Peck, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2019, with her family by her side in Bountiful, Utah.
Sally was born December 9th, 1930 to Jake and Elsie Dorenkamp of Iowa. Her given name is Marian Rose, but was called Sally by all her family and friends. Sally attended all 12 grades at the same school building in Thornton, Iowa. She had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. After Sally graduated from high school, she worked in a retail store and was also a waitress. On October 19, 1949 she married Merle Peck in the First Methodist Church located in her home town of Thornton. Together they had 6 children; 4 daughters and 2 sons. Sally amd Merle celebrated 53 years together before the passing of Merle in 2003.
Sally and Merle moved to Bountiful, Utah in 1963 for Merle’s employment. Sally was a stay at home mom until all the kids were in school, which she then worked at Hill Air Force Base from 1967 to 1978. In 1986 Merle retired and they bought a motor-home and together they began traveling the states. They enjoyed traveling in the summer months and spent the winter months in Florida and Arizona where they met many friends. Sally enjoyed the retired life and the traveling very much.
In her later years, Sally enjoyed yard work, sewing and starting quilts in 2009. She was very talented at her quilt making and donated numerous quilts to charities around the area. Sally also belonged to the Red Hats Society and other luncheon groups. Sally touched many hearts and will be missed by many.
Survived by her children: Denise Burdine, Debra Howarth, Colleen Daniels (William), Craig Peck, and Kevin Peck (Tammy); 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Cochran (Robert) and Janice Vert; also many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband, Merle; daughter, Cheryl; parents Jake and Elsie; brother, Donald, Richard and Daryl; and sister, Bev.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 9, 2019 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment- Lakeview Cemetery.
