Marie Covey Bush, 86, died in Centerville, Utah, on February 26, 2011, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 27, 1924, in Fowler, Kansas, to Jennie (Martin) Covey and Cecil H. Covey. She was the second oldest of six children.
Marie married Carl F. Bush on November 24, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together raising their children Dean and Kaylee on the family farm before Carl passed away in 2002. Marie spent the past seven years living in Centerville, Utah, with her daughter, Kaylee and son-in-law, Matthew E. Coil.
Marie loved to sew quilts and knit afghan blankets. She knitted over a thousand stocking caps for classmates of her great-grandchildren in Hooper, UT, and Bay Village, OH. Marie loved to sit rocking on the porch and talk with her family and friends. She loved to play games with everyone and she was an avid reader, finishing two or three books a week for many years.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Viola Mick, Laverne Thompson, and brother, Harold Covey. She is survived by two brothers, Howard Covey, Phoenix, Arizona, and Fred Covey and wife, Kaylee, of Grand Junction, Co. Also surviving is her son, Sheriff Dean Bush and wife, Debbie, of Dodge City, Kansas, and daughter, Kaylee Bush Coil, and husband, Matthew, of Centerville, Utah, 8 grandchildren, Aubrey Marie(Chris) Tyler, Dr. Andy Bush Coil(Shaynon), Michael Dean Coil (Erin) , Danielle Lee Lawson (Jake), Lauren Kay Perkins (Caleb), Chelsey Cox, Jason Cox and Carl Seth Bush and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7 PM, Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Russon Bro. Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful, UT. Friends may visit from 6-7 PM prior to the service. Family burial services will be at the Appleton Cemetery, Minneola, Kansas, at a later date.
