In Loving Memory
Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, Marie Child Park, passed away on May 10th, 2016 at the age of 94.
Marie grew up in Grey's Lake Idaho with her loving parents and four brothers at a time before electricity had reached their valley. She married her sweetheart, Ralph Child and eventually moved to Star Valley, Wyoming. As a young married couple they worked hard and shared common hobbies, including baseball, dancing, and horseback riding. They raised four children, Don, Luella, Dena, Dee. Marie had an energetic, friendly, and fun personality and enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She had a beautiful smile and warm heart and was a real nurturer. She spent many years in service in her community and the LDS Church. She particularly loved working with the young women of the church. Marie and Ralph retired and served an LDS mission in Battle Mountain Nevada, which was one of the many highlights of their lives. Ralph passed away suddenly just prior to the end of their mission. Upon returning home Marie eventually moved closer to her children in Utah. During this time of her life she cared for President and Sister Ezra Taft Benson, the LDS Church President. She served as a temple worker in the Ogden and Bountiful Temples for 29 years and made many quilts for good causes. She later married Richard Park of Bountiful Utah and enjoyed several years of companionship with this wonderful man. He passed away in 2013.
Viewing and funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 in the LDS Church at 1250 South Main Street, Bountiful, UT. Viewing 9:30, Funeral 11:00. There will be a short graveside service in Afton Wyoming Cemetery, Friday, May 13, 2016 at noon.
Marie is survived by Don (Carolee) Child, Luella (Allan) Hall, Dena (Robert) Lund, & Dee (Bonnie) Child. She has 23 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren. Three grandchildren preceded her in death. Sincere thanks to all those who helped care for our sweet mother. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice .
