Marigene Lamb Peart

May 1, 1919 — March 8, 2016

Marigene Lamb Peart, age 96, has joined her beloved Quent after being separated from him for 45 years.  She passed away March 8, 2016 at Country Care Assisted Living in Farmington, Utah.  She was born May 1, 1919 in Hyde Park, Utah the daughter of Avon and Lorin Lamb.  The oldest of six children she was always a wonderful example to her siblings.  Marigene married Quentin Lee Peart, son of Leander and Estella Tripp Peart, on October 15, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple.  She attended Hyde Park Elementary School and graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond.

Marigene and her sister Ann learned the value of hard work as they were growing up.  Their summer job was hoeing, weeding, and harvesting their dad’s beets, and they took it very seriously.  Upon her marriage to Quent, she moved to the farm in Richmond where she worked side by side with him until his passing in a farming accident.  She later moved to Smithfield, back to Hyde Park, to Bountiful, and finally to Farmington.  She made friends wherever she lived and enjoyed those associations.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as a visiting teacher for over 70 years.  She served as Stake Primary President, Ward Relief Society President, as well as in the Sunday School and MIA.  She also served faithfully in the Bountiful Temple for several years.  She was actively involved in genealogy and loved doing temple work for her ancestors.  She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for years and was proud of her pioneer heritage.

Marigene enjoyed handwork and was an avid reader until her eyesight failed and she could no longer enjoy these activities.  She loved family parties and outings and was always game to try new things.  Her travels took her to nearly every state in the US, as well as Canada, Europe and the Holy Land.  She worked at ZCMI in Logan for many years and talked often about the wonderful people she worked with as well as the customers she assisted.

She is survived by her daughter Elaine (Bob) Watts, Farmington, son-in-law Duane Orchard, Bountiful, as well as 11 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.   She was so thrilled that there were five living generations.  Also surviving are her sister Reta (Bob) Downs, Hyde Park and her brother Lew (Kathy) Lamb, Afton, Wyoming.  She was preceded in death by her husband Quentin, daughter Julie Orchard, son-in-law Carlos Dean Smith, 1 grand-child Curtis Orchard, her parents, and 3 siblings, Richard Lamb, Ann Lamb, and Helen Waite.

We are so grateful for the aids at Country Care and Symbii Hospice who so lovingly took care of her and helped her endure to the end.  Thank you for your kindness and concern for her as she struggled with the challenges of advanced age.  Thanks also to Greg and the sweet residents at Country Care for your friendship and love, we have enjoyed our association with all of you.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Farmington LDS Chapel,  1525 West 79 South, Farmington under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 a.m.  Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Richmond City Cemetery, 350 North 200 East, Richmond, Utah.
