Marilyn Della Beck Daley

Called to serve him Heavenly King of Glory, chosen heir to witness for His name.  Beloved wife and mother, Marilyn Della Beck Daley was called to serve in another place on Sept 2, 2017.  Her whole life she was a witness for Jesus Christ and for her Heavenly Father and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Mom is a fighter and she fought the demon cancer for over a year despite being told it would not be cured.  Mom was a devoted daughter to Delta Lords Beck Sorensen and her father Turrell Joseph Beck.  Her father died when she was young and her brother Dewain was the father figure in her life.  Her brother Alan was her partner in chore duties, mischief, and good times.  She graduated from the University of Utah in textiles and married her sweetheart, E. Jay Daley in the Salt Lake Temple on May 15, 1959.  She worked most of her married life and was found in the office on her 80th birthday helping to get out the payroll.  She formed many lasting friendships with those she worked at the Davis School District Office.  
Mom was the perfect friend to her daughters, Jaylynn, Janae, and "adopted" daughter Tiff.  She would go to bat for them any day.  She was also the best fashion advisor and knew all the latest styles and trends.  It must have come from her early years as a model for ZCMI and her experience dressing windows at women's dress stores.  The girls shopping trips were the best laughable times as we found out which items looked ridiculous on us and which were attractive.  We usually bought the same item.
Mom didn't know how to do her church jobs with minimal effort.  She put her whole soul into every calling. She loved the youth of the church and was often found teaching, talking, and planning with them.  She was the first person to get into a mud fight, to jump in any pond, to sing a song or hymn on a hike, or just to kick it into high gear and get the job done.  She always referred to these youth as "my" boys or "my" girls.  
Even before they got married, Jay and Marilyn started building a cabin in Christmas Meadows.  They did it all by hand with minimal tools and assistance from friends and family, and especially from their dear friends Dare and Diane Allen.  They spent every weekend they could up there and Mom had just been there a couple weeks before her passing. Some of Mom's choicest times of life were spent with her sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple as Dad served 20 years as an ordinance worker and Mom supported him by attending any special events or firesides with that calling.  
Mom was the biggest and loudest cheerleader at her grandkids events whether soccer, basketball, Special Olympics, dance recitals, Reflection contests, marching band, school programs, plays, or graduations. She loved to go on trips with us.  She was an excellent cook, a life-time canner, and loved her roses of every hue.  One of her amazing traits was her intellectual curiosity which sparked all of us to learn new things or crafts.  She taught us that bugs and crawlie critters are okay except black widows. But Mom especially had the gift of love.  No matter what problem you had, she would listen, and her advice, if followed, was impeccable.  She always made life special by easing you through the bumps and telling you "You can do anything you want to do."  We want to give a special thanks to Tiff who gave her the best care possible the last week of life.
She is loved and missed especially by her spouse, Jay Daley, her children: Jaylynn (Brad) Lewis, Janae (Dave) Erickson, and adopted daughter Tiffany Oman Burton.  Life will not be the same for her grandkids or great grandkids, but we have many wonderful memories to reflect on.  
A viewing will be held on Friday, September 15 at the Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St., Bountiful from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Stake Center,  1461 N. Main, Centerville  (West side of main street) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 where a viewing prior to services will be held from 9:30-10:30.  She will be laid to rest in the Salt Lake Cemetery.
