Marilyn Erickson

March 31, 1926 — March 1, 2011

Marilyn Geertsen Erickson returned to her Heavenly Home on the morning of March 1, 2011, shortly before her 85th birthday. Mom will be remembered for her infinite love, abundant joy and unshakable faith. She was born to Joseph and Eloise Geertsen on March 31, 1926, and was the oldest of 6 children. She met her sweetheart and devoted husband on a New Years Eve blind date in 1943 and they were married on October 29, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They exemplified love and devotion for 65 years of marriage and were fiercely loyal to each other and their family. Dads enduring tender care for mom showed their abundant love. Mom modeled the Saviors love throughout her life. She showed us all by her example, how to love, serve and sacrifice. She was devoted to her husband, 6 children, 30 grandchildren and 24+ great-grandchildren. She loved serving in numerous church callings and volunteered for the DUP (Daughters of the Utah Pioneers) for 48 years. She will be remembered fondly as an elect lady. The family would like to thank the Ericksons loving neighbors and friends, the Bountiful 23rd ward members who served them tirelessly and endlessly and the caring staff of Applegate Hospice care. We can never repay the kindness and love you showed our Mother. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Paul and Jim, and a daughter, Judy Whitaker. She will be sincerely missed by her husband, Delmon W. Erickson; and children, Susan McAdams, Judy (deceased) (Bruce) Whitaker, Dave (Aura) Erickson, Doug (Cerrie) Erickson, Karen Crist (Julie), Kris (Chez) Steel;her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Joan & Linda; and brother, Bob. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the LDS Chapel, 2285 South 200 West, Bountiful. The family will be pleased to greet friends and family at a viewing on Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 10:30-11:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Bountiful City Cemetery.
