Marilyn Johnson Slatter

June 1, 1956 — July 3, 2015

Our beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Marilyn Johnson Slatter, returned to her Heavenly Father on July 3rd, 2015. She was born June 1, 1956 in Cheyenne, Wyoming to John Homer Johnson and Ellen Ricks as the fourth of five children.  At the age of seventeen she moved from her childhood home in Denver, Colorado to Bountiful, Utah.  She graduated from Bountiful High School in 1974 and attended college at Brigham Young University.  While working at at American Savings, she met her sweetheart Stephen Slatter who she married November 12, 1976.  They had three children: Stephanie, Kristen and Matthew.  They were sealed as a family in the Salt Lake Temple in August 1990.  She worked as a comptroller at Logistics Specialties Incorporated from 1986-1998.  She thoroughly enjoyed her calling as an ordinance worker at the Bountiful Temple where she served for seven years.  Marilyn had a unique ability to make everyone she came in contact with feel special.  Her magnetic personality made her an ambassador for fun and adventure.  She had a knack for finding "Pennies from Heaven" and was most often found giving of her time and talents serving others.  She was most at home when surrounded by her family members, especially her grandchildren where it was sometimes difficult to identify who was the adult.  She enjoyed riding her custom Harley Davidson motorcycle and loved spending time in Moab, Jackson Hole and St. George.  It was not uncommon for her to be seen driving a snowmobile or UTV.  She enjoyed riding her mountain bike and loved watching Perry Mason shows.  She will be missed by all who knew her and the depth of loss cannot be adequately expressed.

Marilyn is survived in death by her sweetheart, Steve and their three children Stephanie Linford (Joe), Kristen Banzhaf (Matt) and Matthew (Amanda) and eight grandchildren: Paige, Grace, Will, Lex, Mason, Kiya, Sara, and Benjamin.  She also leaves 4 siblings:  Gale (Nina) Johnson, George (Evelyn) Johnson, Barbara (Steve) Perkins, and Grant (Tonya) Johnson.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ellen Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8 at the North Canyon Stake Center, 965 East Oakwood Drive, Bountiful, UT.  Friends and family may visit on Tuesday from 6pm-8pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, UT and from 10am-10:45am on Wednesday at the church.
