Marilyn Lee

January 17, 1926 — June 29, 2012

Marilyn Thomson Lee, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 29, 2012. She was born January 17, 1926 in Richmond, Utah, to Joseph LaVille and Zeruah Lowe Thomson. She graduated from Logan High School in 1944. In that same year, she joined the ranks of Americans working at the Defense Depot for the World War II effort. She met John A. Lee after he returned from three years of service in the South Pacific. She married her Marine sweetheart in 1947. After the war she had careers as a receptionist, cashier and salesperson. She has called Bountiful her home since 1959. Marilyn loved her family and was a strong influence for good in their lives. John and Marilyn celebrated 60 ½ years together. Marilyn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and served in many callings in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday school. She served a member service mission at church headquarters in Salt Lake. She belonged to the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers where she served three years as Camp Secretary. She was very blessed by her pioneer heritage. Besides her vegetable and flower gardens, she enjoyed needle work, flower arranging and reading. She belonged to the Artistic Designers garden club and judged horticulture and artistic design at the Utah State Fair. Marilyn had a good life on Earth. She enjoyed nature, the mountains, camping, hiking, boating and skiing. She always looked for the beauty around her. She worked for eight years at Fashion Fabrics and enjoyed sewing for her children and herself. Marilyn is survived by her children Debbie Romney (Jim), Dennis John Lee, DeAnna Leahy, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, sisters Roma Freeman (Monte) and Elouise Bouwhuis. She was preceded in death by her husband John and sister Artella Luthy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the Bountiful 20th Ward, 102 East 1400 South, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment Bountiful City Cemetery. Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
