Marilyn Tingey Hope

July 30, 1930 — August 9, 2018

Marilyn Tingey Hope, our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, peacefully passed away from natural causes on August 9, 2018, surrounded by family at her residence in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Marilyn was born July 30, 1930 to Stanley and Eva Leaver Tingey in Salt Lake City, Utah. She grew up, with her older brother Kenneth, in Salt Lake near Liberty Park, attending Hawthorne Elementary and South High School. While attending BYU she met Ivan N. Hope. They became engaged shortly before Ivan was drafted into the Korean War. 18 months later, in October of 1952, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Employment took Ivan and Marilyn to California and then back to Utah with their little, growing family. Marilyn loved being a wife and mother, taking care of 4 boys and creating love- filled homes in Bountiful. Marilyn was also a valued secretary, working at Wesreco, Crysen Refinery and South Davis Community Hospital.  She later served on the hospital Board of Trustees. Following retirement, she and Ivan served a full-time mission to the Washington DC North Mission where they enjoyed serving others tremendously.
Marilyn was at her best when serving those around her, including welcoming new neighbors, serving in many different callings in the LDS church, hosting friends at gatherings and especially in making candies for everyone to enjoy. It was a sad day when she could physically no longer make her wonderful chocolates.
She and Ivan loved to travel and spend time with close friends. She loved to camp with family and enjoyed supporting and spending time with her 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Marilyn was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making wonderful meals. She was an active member in the church and freely gave her time to serve in many callings.
Marilyn is survived by sons Scott (Cathy) of Temecula, CA., Matthew of South Salt Lake, UT., Greg (Jolene) of Cedar Hills, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband Ivan, son Roger, parents, and her brother Kenneth.  The family wishes to thank the staff and many good friends at Parklane Senior Living, Cornerstone Home Health, Encompass Hospice nurse Heidi Lawrence and especially Rosemary Silva's angels who helped care for her this past year.
A viewing will be held Friday, Aug. 17th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main St. Bountiful, Utah.  Funeral services will be held at the Bountiful LDS 9th Ward, 585 E. Center St. on Saturday, Aug. 18th at 11:00 am with a viewing prior at 9:30-10:30 am.
