Pulmonary Fibrosis, has claimed the life of Marilyn. She chose to return to her home at the end and was attended by her husband, Warren Hyrum Toone, and a few of their daughters. Marilyn was born in Rainy River, Rainy River Dist, Ontario, Canada. She is the daughter of Theophile Landry and Vera Belle Doty. Her death was preceded by a brother, Gordon Norell, and a sister, Elaine Norell. A brother, Leo Landry and a sister, Delphine Landry, survive her. She managed to endure the winters and grow in the small Canadian towns north of the Minnesota border. When she was in her teens she had the opportunity to visit in Salt Lake City each summer and attend school at West High. This is where she first met her Husband. He and Marilyn have four daughters, Rochelle, Colette, Charlotte, Kileen, and a son, Nathan.
After high school, Marilyn received a Degree in Education at Brigham Young University. While attending BYU she worked for the Drama Dept as a Seamstress and Costume Designer. This started her on her life passion of creating beautiful things from/with fabrics, threads and needles. First it was dresses for her beautiful daughters. Next it was Wedding Dresses, Bridesmaid’s dresses, then entire wedding lines. After her children left the nest she became passionate about quilting. She had the vision and drive to add her personal touch to her quilts resulting in recognition and top awards for many of them. She was affiliated with the Utah Quilt Guild as well as local quilt groups. She has contributed much to the Guild’s charitable activities. Family and friends have mourned with her at this final struggle, but it could be said that, “she will be missed most at her passing by the many quilters that have touched their lives with hers”.
