d. May 8, 2006

Marion Caroline Lavery Richter Beesley passed away Monday, May 8, 2006 at the age of 87. Born to Ormond James and Katherine Margaret Lavery June 30, 1918 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She was the oldest of 3 children. In her early years she loved speed skating and was an accomplished ballet dancer. Swimming was a life-long love that continued thru her 86th year. At the age of 60, mom learned to drive. This gave her freedom to explore and enjoy life more fully. She worked many years in the temple and frequently took other women with her. Mom held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an avid reader, loved teaching the gospel, and working with children. She had a burning testimony of the gospel and among her last words was the sharing of that testimony to her loved ones. One of her greatest enjoyments was painting. She attended art classes and loved teaching others to paint. Many of her paintings hang in the homes of family members. She married Fred Horst Richter on May 4, 1940 in Toronto, Canada, where they had their first of eleven children. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 27, 1961. She is survived by her children: Caroline G. Ernest Deters, Wayne Pat, Garry Cheryl, Renard Shauna, Leslie Richter, Marion Frank McCullough, William Kathy, Ross Bobbi Lamont, Eldon Margy. She has 34 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and others expected. Mom was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Fred H. Richter, son LeGrand, great-grandson Kazen Kent, and her two brothers William James Lavery and Ormond James Lavery. Late in life, she married Sterling E. Beesley who preceded her in death.
