Marty Cox, 90, of Bountiful, Utah, passed away of natural causes November 19, 2011 at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden, Utah. He was born May 14, 1921 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Edward and Polly Estella Belnap Cox. He graduated from Murray High School and later attended BYU. He served in the Army during WWII from 1942-46 in the United States and England. He loved his country. After the war he lived in Ogden where he met his bride-to-be in Sunday School. He was her teacher. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 18, 1947 and were blessed with 8 children. Marty was in the insurance business all his life. He was president of First Security Insurance and served in many leadership positions in local and national insurance associations. He provided valuable influence on a national level. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in many callings throughout his life. He was an excellent and very knowledgeable teacher. Music was an integral part of his life. His favorite musical instrument was a set of Deagan Organ Chimes handcrafted in 1900, which he played with his father, children, and grandchildren. Many of you were recipients of a phone call mini concert. We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to those who cared for Marty at the Wahlen Veterans Home. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joyce Unck Cox of Bountiful, UT.; his children: Wayne (Vickie) Cox of Rio Rancho, NM, Paul (Dolly) Cox of Draper, UT., Diane (Wes) McBride of Layton, UT., Gary (Carolee) Cox of Kaysville, UT., Jana (Steve) Chisholm of Farmington, UT., Dale (Kerrie) Cox of Salina, CA., Dwight (Laurie) Cox of West Jordan, UT., and Jonathan (Holly) Cox of American Fork, UT.; his brother, M. Wesley (Bonnie) Cox of West Valley City, UT.; 45 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Bountiful 13th Ward, 1365 North 650 East. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment-Hooper City Cemetery.
