Marjean Maughan Wood, 83, passed away on July 4, 2022, with her family by her side.
Marjean was born on March 28, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Darlene Edith and James Varian Maughan. She was the oldest of three children. She was raised in Salt Lake and spent the last 60+ years living in Bountiful.
She married Daniel Fullmer Wood on May 2, 1958, which was later sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they raised four wonderful children, three sons and one daughter.
She served in many different callings in her ward and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was very social and made friends everywhere she went. She loved the beauty of the earth and loved the ocean, flowers, sunrises, and sunsets. It was quite common for her to call at the crack of dawn or dusk eagerly telling us to “go outside and look.”
Everyone was always welcome at her kitchen table, and she always had room for one more, especially during holidays. Whether it was providing a meal or encouraging you eat the candy and snacks placed around her house, no one ever left her home hungry!
She loved to go out to lunch and “Saturday lunches” became a family tradition that she looked forward to each week. She took every opportunity she could to go shopping and she loved eating cold pizza for breakfast. She loved music and loved to sing special songs to her children and grandchildren. No matter the age, she would still sing us the Chocolate Ice Cream Cone song.
She loved it most when her kids and grandkids were around her. She did lots of funny things that made her grandkids laugh and they loved calling her “Gram Cracker.” She loved them to the moon and back.
She had many neighbors and special friends that she adored. We are so grateful to many of them who visited her and served her the last few years of her life. We are especially grateful to her sister, Sharon, who spent countless hours helping her, taking care of, and serving her. We love you Aunt Sharon!
She was dearly loved and we will miss her. “I love you….I love you more….I love you most!”
She is survived by her four children Daniel D., Kurt (Stephanie), Terah (Marc) Doane, and Nathan; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon (Richard) Pierce whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Jim.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Southworth, Carli at Atlas Hospice, and Whisper Cove Assisted Living for their loving care and concern.
