Marjorie Adams

Marjorie Rollins Rose Adams slipped into eternity March 16, 2014 in Bountiful UT at the age of 90. She was born February 19, 1924 to Zina Pearl Bybee and Oscar Whitaker Rollins as the 8th child of 12 in the ‘big house’ at the Rollins Ranch in Mtn Green, Morgan County, Utah.
Marjorie attended Peterson Elementary School, then Morgan High School. She married her High School Sweetheart August E. Rose (Auggie) on September 16, 1942 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Morgan where their daughters and one son blessed their home. Marjorie and Auggie enjoyed 35 years of marriage with their family before Auggie was killed in a tractor rollover 7-7-77.
Marjorie immediately enrolled in Business College and graduated from Stevens-Henager Business College in June 1978 as Valedictorian and Outstanding Student in the graduating class. She only interviewed for one job and was hired as Private Secretary for the Assistant Administrator at McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. After four years there, Marjorie felt a desire for more schooling so she changed jobs to Private Secretary at the Dean’s office at the School of Technology at Weber State University. There she could work and then take extra classes at night, thus fulfilling a sincere desire for more education. Her final quarter in college was spent studying abroad in Mexico, coming home just in time to graduate WSU Summa Cum Laude phi Kappa Phi from WSU, Outstanding Student in the department and giving her the long desired University Degree.
She loved to travel and took advantage of every opportunity to travel and see the world, especially if there was an LDS Temple there. She performed Temple work in 65 different Temples all around the World. She traveled completely around the world two different times and when the new “Seven Wonders of the World” was announced, she had already visited six of them and thrilled at every one. She cruised the Trans Atlantic Crossing as well as the Trans Pacific Ocean Crossing.
Marjorie lived in Washington DC while working in Senator Hatch’s office for one year. There she met and married Lee Adams of Denver, CO. Later, they lived in Denver and Coronado, CA, for 17 years. Marjorie worked in the Denver LDS Temple as an Ordinance Worker for nine of those years. After Lee’s death in 2003, she moved to condo living in Bountiful, UT, to be nearer to her Children and Grandchildren. Then Marjorie served an LDS Mission at Church Archives in Salt Lake City. She was a firm believer that life is meant to be lived to the fullest.
Survivors include daughters Marilyn Rose, Seattle, WA, Janice Rose, St Louis, MO, and LuRinda (Tom) Peterson, Morgan, UT, and one son Auggie Paul (Melanie) Rose, Morgan, UT. Also surviving family includes 11 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren with two new Great-Grandchildren due soon. She is also survived by one Brother, Myron (Erma) Rollins of Billings, MT, and four sisters Alice Sorensen, St George, UT, Afton (Edward) Jacobson, Pullman, WA, Josephine Hurst, Salt Lake City, UT, and Norma (Clyde) Maughan of Schenectady, NY.
At her request there will be no formal funeral, but family and friends can meet Wednesday evening from 6-8 at the Morgan Ninth Ward, 240 S 300 W, Morgan and again Thursday 11-12 before family travels to the South Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, UT, for family graveside services. Arrangements are being managed by Russon Brothers Bountiful.
“Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body. But rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming: “Wow! What a ride!”
