Our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, Marjorie Sackley, age 93, passed away on the 30th of December in Gilbert Arizona. She was born on the 8th of April, 1927 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia to John William and Ethel Brooks Orth, the 6th of 8 children. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her life was lived with purpose and complete faithfulness to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She exemplified courage and sacrifice in her daily life and decisions. Those decisions led her, together with her husband Robert (who preceded her in death) to Alberta, Canada where they raised their five children and then on to a life of Church service in many parts of the world. She fulfilled the roles of wife and homemaker, mother, leader, missionary, and friend with great insight, determination, compassion, and wisdom. She influenced the lives of many.
Marjorie spent the last 23 years in Mesa, Arizona living on her own, engaged in serving others and enjoying her family, which now exceeds 98 members. She is survived by her five children, Carolyn (Allen) Woodruff, Jennifer (Larry) Gardiner, Kenneth (Kristie) Sackley, Peter (Kelly) Sackley, and Wayne (Anne) Sackley.
To honor our mother, a funeral will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 230 N. Val Vista Drive Gilbert 85234 at 10 AM on Saturday, the 9th of January, 2021.
