Mark L Lewis

June 2, 1933 — July 8, 2018

Our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, Mark L Lewis died at home on July 8, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1933 in Petaluma, CA, the son of Mark Larson Lewis and Blanche Moore Lewis.  He attended Stanford University before serving in the U.S. Army for two years.  He later graduated from Brigham Young University.  It was at BYU that he met the love of his life, Marlena Carling.  They both graduated from BYU one day and then married in the Manti, Utah Temple the next day on June 6, 1959.
They moved to Cleveland, Ohio where Mark obtained a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Case Western Reserve University.  He served a one-year internship at the Florida State Prison in Rayford, FL.  
They moved to Bountiful, Utah where he practiced General Dentistry for 36 years.  He served 4 years on the Advisory Council of the National Institute of Dental Research in Bethesda, MD.  He was the 1st Bishop of the Bountiful 45th ward of the LDS Church.  He served twice as President of the Salt Lake Chapter of the BYU Cougar Club.  He served as President of the Bountiful Kiwanis Club. He and Marlena served three Service Missions Hosting at Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  
    Survived by wife, Marlena, Daughters Michelle (Marti) Peart, Maureen (Bill) Clemons and son, Mark D. (Paula) Lewis. 15 Grandchildren and 1 Great grandchild.   Preceded in death by his Parents, Sister June Lewis, and Daughters, Kathleen and Melanie Jenkins.
    He will remembered for his great sense of humor, unwavering love of his wife, family trips and  traditions, and his love of BYU athletics.
    The Family would like to thank Melissa, Jonathon, and Zac from Hospice for their compassionate care of our Father.  
    Funeral services will be at the Bountiful East Stake Center, 650 East 2150 South on Friday, July 13 at 11:00 am, where a viewing will be held prior to funeral at 9:30-10:30. A viewing will also be held Thursday, July 12 at the Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Interment-Spanish Fork Cemetery – 3:00 pm.
