Mark Mann

July 23, 1953 — January 1, 2014

Mark Dale Mann, 60, of Layton, Utah, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, returned to his Heavenly Father on January 1, 2014, due to complications following surgery.
Mark was born on July 23, 1953 to Olive Elaine Peterson and Dale Dee Mann in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mark graduated from Viewmont High. He married his high school sweetheart, Sherylan Stone, on November 16, 1970. On the same date two years later, their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Rachelle and Shaun.
Mark’s membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meant so much to him in his life. He served his Church with a loyal and faithful heart. His callings included being in the Stake Mission Presidency, serving with Sherylan as Ward Young Single Adult Advisors, and as Ward Librarians. Mark had a tender spot in his heart for the Primary Children he taught with Sherylan. He always commented about how much he loved teaching them. He also loved participating in the Scouting program.
Mark had a deep gratitude and love for his Savior. He enjoyed studying the Scriptures daily. When his health permitted, Mark loved going to the temple. His life was always about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his family. He was blessed with the gift of patience. He always had a positive outlook on life. Mark was a great example of one who accepted the trials of life without becoming bitter and he always moved cheerfully forward. He looked for the good in others, and judged no one. He accepted people for who and what they were. Mark was a gentle and loving man who truly was a friend to many.
Mark loved traveling and found great joy in spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved any adventure and thrill. He loved horses, golf, skiing, motorcycles, karate, snorkeling, and trading in the stock market. If there was a challenge or thrill, Mark was always found leading the way. Mark is survived by his sweet wife, Sherylan Mann who devoted her life to him; daughter, Rachelle Ryan (Rod), Clinton, Utah; son, Shaun, Farmington, Utah; Five grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Jaymin, Kayden, and Madison; sister, Dalane M.
