Our dear husband, dad, papa, brother and friend, Mark Robert Liddle, passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2018, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with melanoma. Mark was born on September 26, 1950 in Salt Lake City; the fourth of six children born to William Winder and Vaudis Rodeback Liddle.
Mark attended Granite High School where he developed his lifelong passion for swimming which has remained with him throughout his life. He also enjoyed golf, volleyball, riding his motorcycle and running. He participated in multiple marathons and two triathlons.
He married his high school sweetheart, Terry Burt, in the Salt Lake Temple on September 15, 1972. They have three children, Heather (Brian) Phillips, Stephen and Rebecca. They were blessed with five wonderful grandchildren (Ella, Samuel, Isaac, Lucy and Liberty Phillips). Spending time with his wife, kids and grandchildren was most precious to Mark. Vacationing in St. George among other places, watching them play sports, going to dance and piano recitals, band concerts, school programs and simply enjoying them at home with a bowl of popcorn were among his favorites. He also enjoyed being with his siblings, cousins and friends whenever he had the opportunity.
Mark was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of our Savior. He served faithfully in various church callings throughout his life and cherished most, the relationships he developed through serving others.
Mark spent his entire career at the University of Utah Hospital in Facilities and Engineering. He very much enjoyed his job and the people with whom he worked.
He was everyone’s go-to guy and used his knowledge and creativity in electrical, plumbing, drafting and technology to help family and friends with their various projects throughout the years.
Mark went out of his way to make others feel special and loved. He and his wife, Terry have invited countless people into their home for Sunday dinners and sometimes extended stays. They always created an atmosphere of love and acceptance for others.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve; daughter, Becky and sister, RuthAnn. He is survived by his wife, Terry; daughter, Heather (Brian); five grandchildren; siblings, Bill (April), Janet (Bob) Dunn, John (Karin), Lynnette (Kim) Horner, brother-in-law Rex Wickham; and many dear nieces and nephews. He is also dearly loved and will be missed by Terry’s siblings, Wendel (Kerry), Ron (Leslie), Marilyn (Dave) and their families.
