Mark Stephen Gabriel Obituary 10/28/1958—11/27/2019

Mark Stephen Gabriel, 61, beloved husband, father, brother, friend, and grandfather passed away at home with his family on November 27th, 2019. He lived life to the fullest in the midst of multiple cancer diagnoses and related health challenges. All who knew him recognized his optimism and fortitude in every situation. He was not intimidated by anyone or any situation and loved making friends wherever he went. His mindset was always to bless the lives of those around him.

Mark was born in Derby, Connecticut to Edward and Irene Gabriel on October 28th, 1958. He was one of six children. Mark grew up in Connecticut and Massachusetts and served a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Rick’s College and graduated from BYU in 1984. Mark was married and sealed to his eternal companion Robyn Lyon in 1982 in the Washington, D.C. temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Mark is the proud father of two children Annaliese (spouse Christopher Pope) and Cameron (spouse Katelin Allen), and his grand baby Emmett Allen Gabriel.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Irene Gabriel and twin sister Pamela. Mark is survived by his wife and children, father, Edward Shia Gabriel, Sr. and four siblings Edward Jr., Cynthia, Karen, and Aaron.

Mark spent several decades as an industrial sales engineer and later worked as a member of the AFBA serving first responders.

Above all Mark was a loyal husband and father who loved family, fishing, fine cuisine, and BYU football. He was a true friend to all.

The public viewing will be held at the Bountiful Russon Mortuary, 295 No. Main St. in Bountiful from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday 11/29. The Funeral Service and Life celebration will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel at 210 East 1825 North Centerville, Utah at 10:00 am for a public viewing followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am on Saturday 11/30.
