Marlene Martin Knighton, age 75, passed away Friday afternoon, May 11, 2012, and was reunited with her best friend and husband of 48 years. Marlene was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 13 September, 1936 to Lorenzo and Ruby Martin where she lived with her four sisters, Barbara, Shirley, Gloria, Lynn and two brothers Howard and Carl until her high school years when the family moved to Bountiful where she attended South Davis Jr. High and Davis High School.
Marlene married the love of her life, Willard S. Knighton, on 10 August 1963. Shortly thereafter on 18 June, 1965 their marriage was solemnized as they were sealed for time and all eternity together and as a family in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had a family of eight wonderful children, each one special to her and loved unconditionally.
Marlene loved her family, flowers, and teddy bears. She loved each of her grandchildren. She loved being outdoors wither her husband and family and those long rides in the country that Bill would take her on.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Howard Martin, and daughter Cindy Lee Knighton. She is survived by three daughters, Shelley (Ray) Corn, Tammy (Darrin) Hyatt, Amy (Bill) Brown, four sons, Rob (Laurie) Knighton, Mike (Cindy) Knighton, Steve (Jamie) Knighton, Jason (Cami) Knighton, 28 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, 16 May, 2012 at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West. A viewing will be held at 10:00 am at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 N. Main, prior to graveside services.
