Marlene Lund

April 11, 1938 — March 10, 2015

Marlene was born on April 11, 1938 to Richard Merrill Lund and Zola Barton Miller in Milford, Utah.  She passed away peacefully from natural causes on March 10, 2015 at Legacy House of Bountiful.  She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Phillip M., David M., Ray L., and Merrill L.  She is survived by her sister, Konnie L. Larsen (Lynn), half-brother Allan D. LeBaron (Eleanore), and 25 nieces and nephews that truly loved Aunt Marlene.

Marlene graduated from South High, SLC, and was allowed to skip her senior year (due to her excellent grades) to attend the University of Utah.  She graduated from the U with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and was immediately hired by the Hayward School District in the San Francisco Bay area.  Her favorite school there was “Eureka”, where she taught 4th and 5th grade for 30+ years and touched many lives.

She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served as a missionary in the Finland, Helsinki mission through 1961 and 1962.  She also served in a variety of other callings including Relief Society President, Teacher, and Single Adult Committee member.  One of her favorite assignments was that of Temple Worker for many years in the Oakland, CA Temple.

Marlene quickly grew fond of the San Francisco area and especially loved the ocean.  Her house and hospitality served as a home away from home many times each year for vacationing family and friends.  She also had a wonderful group of friends in California with whom she loved to travel.

She was a wonderful daughter, sister, friend, aunt, and second mother to many nieces and nephews and will be so greatly missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 13, at 1:00 p.m., at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Ut.  with a viewing prior to the the service from 11:00-12:45 p.m.  Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Legacy House of Bountiful staff for their kind caring service and the Branch and Relief Society presidencies of the Bountiful House Branch. Also, for the wonderful hospice care provided by Aspire Home Health as the end drew near.

In Lieu of flowers, the famiy requested that contributions be made in her name to the Perpetual Education Fund or Missionary Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (https://donate.ldsphilanthropies.org)
