Marlene Peterson

September 17, 1936 — January 10, 2013

Marlene Rae Merrill Peterson age 76 died peacefully at her Bountiful home January 10, 2013. She was born on September 17, 1936 in Salt Lake City to Glen Crowson Merrill and Louie Ellen Salter Merrill. She was raised in San Diego where she met and then married her husband Kenneth E Peterson (Sandy) in the Mesa Temple on March 30th, 1953. Athletic and fun loving she swam, played basketball (HS), and most of all golfed. She was artistic with a fine sense of design and performed in and directed numerous plays in her wards and at BYU Hawaii. Her voice was beautiful and she sang much around the house and in church. She was the solo voice in a beautiful Easter Cantata in Laie, Hawaii where she was also on the town council. Successful professionally she worked as a project director for Gus Papanikolos, Jon Huntsman, and John Milliken. She was a humanitarian missionary for 5 years on welfare square where she helped many people turn their lives around. Blessed with good friends she was also an angel in disguise for those in need. Loved taking her sons and grandsons golfing every year at a great course. Her daughters and granddaughters also loved the shopping trips. Active member of the LDS Church she served in sundry callings and loved the Bountiful 3rd Ward.
Preceded in death by her parents she is survived by her husband Kenneth Peterson, sister Melody Allegria (Fernando), children; Lance Peterson (Terry), Kent Peterson (Robert), Mark Peterson (Debbie), Marcia Birdsley (Galen) and Darin Peterson (Alyson); 20 grandchildren and one niece and nephew.
A Viewing will be held Wednesday, January 16th at Russon Brothers Mortuary (295 N Main, Bountiful Utah) from 6:00- 8:00 pm and on Thursday 9:45-10:45 am prior to the services at the Bountiful Tabernacle. The Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 17th at the LDS Bountiful Tabernacle (Junction of Center Street and Main, Bountiful Utah) at 11:00 with interment at the Bountiful Cemetery.
