Marsha Manning Swain, 86, of Bountiful returned to her Heavenly Father on June 9th 2024. Her family was at her bedside during her final days.
Marsha was born on the third of January, 1938, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Marsha spent most of her growing-up years living on Hollywood Avenue in Salt Lake City, where she attended Garfield Elementary and later Irving Jr. High. When she was preparing for her freshman year of high school, her parents bought a new home in Bountiful, and Marsha attended the newly opened Bountiful High School and, later, Davis High School in Kaysville.
One day, she met a handsome and hard-working young man whose father owned a construction company that was building many new homes in the Bountiful area. They fell in love and were married for all time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on June 21st 1955, when Marsha was 17.
When she married, she left school before graduating. She loved school and was an outstanding student. Her goal was to start a family, return and get her high school diploma, and then attend university and become a registered nurse.
She did eventually return to night school at West High in Salt Lake and graduated with high honors. However, nursing school never materialized, because her life took a different path.
Marsha and her husband Arlin had four Children-two boys and two girls. Their youngest daughter developed juvenile rheumatoid arthritis early in elementary school and Marsha attended to her every need while managing a household, and attending to her other children (volunteering as a room mother; providing weekly transportation to music lessons; attending musical and acting performances, athletic events, etc.).
Marsha was an excellent cook. Sunday dinners were always a treat in the Swain Home-roast, potatoes and gravy, fresh vegetables, rolls, etc. She also enjoyed canning the produce from the family garden and fruit trees. In addition, Marsha was also an avid reader and was an active member of the local Literary Club for years.
Over the years, Marsha served in a variety of church callings and especially enjoyed her years as an ordinance worker in the Bountiful Temple with her husband. They also served in the branch leadership at a local care center.
Marsha is survived by her sons Mark (Kristie), Mike (Charlotte), daughters Lisa Jarvis (Mark), Stephanie Ferguson (Brandon), nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren (soon to be 10), and a sister Carolyn Spear.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Clarence Hoxer Manning and Lucille Shaw, a brother Wayne, and a brother-in-law John Spear.
