Martha Trudy Elliott Nelson

March 13, 1945 — February 17, 2017

Martha Trudy Elliott Nelson passed away on February 17, 2017 from natural causes after suffering many years with a multitude of various illnesses. Trudy was born March 13, 1945 at the old McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.  She was the youngest of five children and only daughter of Walter Simon Elliott and Earlene Eva Bray.

Trudy grew up in Farmington, Utah and despite her mother’s desire for a princess, she was a tomboy, loving to tag along with her dad as he went about his farm work.  Trudy was outgoing and vivacious with a beautiful and ready smile.  She said hello to everyone she met, never said a bad word about anyone, and made friends easily; people were drawn to her.

Trudy met the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Nelson, while still in junior high school.  When Mike wrote her the message, “I love you, I love you, I love you, I do…but, don’t get excited I love Monkeys, too!” she knew she was good and truly smitten.  Mike and Trudy married on December 19, 1964, in Farmington, UT and had their union solemnized a few months later in the Salt Lake Temple.

Their union was blessed with 8 children, numerous animals, bushels of flowers and lots of chocolate.

Trudy is survived by her sweetheart of 52 years, Mike, their children: Morgan (Gina) Nelson of Saratoga Springs, UT;  Holly (Dave) Downs of Kaysville, UT; Whitney (Vern) Horning of Syracuse, UT; Nathan Nelson of Farmington, UT; Mitchel (Katie) Nelson of Spring, TX; Matthew Nelson of Farmington, UT; Carter Nelson of New York, NY and Trent Nelson of Kaysville, UT. Grandchildren: Brianna Bryn, Michael Elliott, Marisa Marie, Parker Elliott, and Reagan Elliott Nelson; Meilani Marie, David Ammon, and Samuel Michael Makaawaawa Downs; Anastasia Ariel (Andrew Kenneth England), Arianne Danielle (Zachary Layne Lovell), Alexandria Sabine (Dallon Lee Wilkes), and Enoch Austin Horning; Mia Leigh, Lincoln John, Henry McEwan, and Hugh Jeffrey Nelson; Brynlyn Kim, Lukas Mitchel, Walker Jones, and Paige Elise Nelson; and Milo Scott Nelson.  2 great grandchildren: Penelope Jane and Alice Marguerite England. Mother-in-law Maxine W. Nelson. Brothers Max Elliott and Ross (Kathy) Elliott and sister-in-law, Sharon Elliott. Sister-in-law Kathy (Walt) Schofield, brother-in-laws: Steve (Vickie), Doug and Mark (Michelle) Nelson.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Gary and Norman Elliott, her father-in-law Jarvis Milton Nelson and sister-in-law Margaret Webb Elliott.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 S 200 E Farmington, UT.
