Marva Raee Burt Randle, 86, beloved mom, grandma, great-grandma, friend and master gardener peacefully passed away in her garden room that she loved on March 27, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Marva was born in Honeyville, Utah on September 14, 1931, to Vera Esther Harper and Carlos Nelson Burt, the youngest of five siblings, all who predeceased her: Wayne (Dorothy) Burt, Billie Jean (Nels) Rasmussen, Carlos Junior Burt and Dale (Francis) Burt. She grew up on the family farm and later in Brigham City, graduating from Box Elder High School, where she was a drum majorette. She was also Brigham City Peach Days’ Queen. She attended the University of Utah where she was in a sorority. She married the love of her life, Harry Grant Randle, on August 2, 1952. Their family was later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They lived and raised their five children in Bountiful, Utah. People in the community know Marva for her beautifully landscaped gardens, as a realtor, a buyer for a retail clothing store and for many years at Karleen’s Gifts and Dick’s Ace Hardware. She was very talented and beautified all of her surroundings, whether in her own yard, at Oakridge Country Club, in work environments, etc. Whatever she touched became more beautiful.
Mom had the great ability to treat others in such a way that everyone thought they were her very favorite, whether child, grandchild, neighbor or friend. She was the glue in the neighborhood, where all loved to gather and visit in the garden room or on the patio. She was a passionate gardener and received many city awards for which she begged the city to stop giving. Her white house on the corner with the gardens is iconic. She was an incredibly hard worker, and instilled a powerful work ethic in her children and grandchildren. Her LDS Church service included serving in Young Women’s, the nursery, with Activity Day Girls, the library and in the Bountiful Temple. She set a perfect example of true love and devotion to her sweetheart and family. Grant and Marva had a marriage and romance that is an example for all to follow. They were completely devoted to each other and their children, Kirk (Becky), Kim [deceased] (Kris), Susan, Debra, and Russ (Julie). Marva also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Our family appreciates the support we have felt from loving neighbors, friends and ward members throughout Marva’s life and during her illness.
